Book Review: Stealing Dawn

Rating: 5/5

What's the Skinny: This is the breakout novel for Jerry Green, where Man on Fire meets Political Scandal, and one of the best plot twists I've read in a long time!

The Senators niece/ adopted daughter has been kidnapped. When his wife is desperate to bring her home, she turns to a lethal sniper named Stone for help. No one knows who is behind the kidnapping, but the Senator and his wife want the person brought to justice.

When Stone catches up with Dawn, he is in for a surprise. Dawn is full of sass, wit, and life of surety that quickly agitates Stone. Stone just wants to do one thing, get the kid back to his "employer" safely before the bad guys get her again. It doesn't take long on the road back to safety for Dawn to charm her way into Stone's heart. Think Boo and Sully from Monster's inc.

This book is fast paced and I was so impressed with the story development. It reads like a movie and has a unique set up: there are NO CHAPTERS. While some might consider that a disadvantage, and at first, I was annoyed with it, it became an advantage because the book is not choppy. It was easy to follow the characters around as they tried to get Dawn back to her family safely.

And can we talk about MAJOR cliffhanger. I was DYING.

I think it is accurate to say that Leslie Knope and I are soul people because this was me at the end of this Book! Thank God the second book is being released in October and I can't wait to see where Jerry Green takes us because lets face it. He was just trying to kill us all.

In Case You Read the Back of Books:
The political climate approaching a presidential election is always charged with unknowns. Concerns over what might divert public attention from the candidate's strategic game plan loom large. For Georgia Senator and Democratic nominee, William Daniels, events take an unexpected turn when his Atlanta estate is overrun one night by mercenaries. His wife, two children, house staff and five-year-old niece, Dawn, are terrorized for only six short minutes, but it sets off a chain of events that will change the course of the presidential election, the family, and lives of some of the most powerful and ruthless men in the world. "Stealing Dawn" follows the life of Dawn after she is stolen from the only family she has remaining and held as a pawn to assure the outcome of the election, now just months away. What the mercenaries hadn't counted on was the lengths the family would go to when Mrs. Daniels, without her husband's knowledge, hires a man known only as Stone, to steal back Dawn. Finding Dawn is easy for Stone, but lives, fortunes and political aspirations are dramatically altered over the eight-day journey home.
